"Shake it!"

You would think a song with quite a bit of English in it would be easier to translate, but it's quite the opposite. There's some quite... inventive... English parts in here, and even now I'm pretty confused about what a couple of them are meant to mean in connection with the Japanese ^^;;

I'll add notes at the bottom to make certain bits clearer.

Anyway, on with the song! The lyrics to this one are actually pretty sexy and DoS, despite the light, dancey feel of the song. The song may officially be about "dancing", but it's quite clear what he's really singing about....

Shake it! - Matsumoto Jun

Caught by my secret trick, won't you burn it up hard for me?
Changing from a playful act to something more adult - Face & Fake - it's kinda nice, right?

Step By Step
Share this passion that's whirling around us, if we shake together, we'll take it Step By Step
If we merge together I hope it's Night & Day, just as our instincts desire

"JANAKUTE" // "You've got it wrong!"

I love this song to bits. Both the lyrics and arrangement are so much fun and well suited to Aiba's voice. I think understanding the lyrics makes it 100% more enjoyable so I've decided to translate it.

It's a very sweet song about a problem so many guys have.... Aiba's fallen into the "best friend trap" with a girl he likes... and she's showering him with compliments, but just will not pick up on the fact he wants to be more than friends!

The title "janakute" keeps coming up in the song. "janakute" is generally added after words/phrases to make them negative, and suggests it's not that, it's something else. The way he's using it here, it's like "that's not it!"/"You've got it wrong!" Or, the first way it's used in this song is like adding a sarcastic "not!" after you've said something.

Again, I'm guessing the romaji is up on the net somewhere, but let me know if it's not and I'll add it here!
Note: The pink parts in speech marks are spoken by the girl.

"You've got it wrong!" - Aiba Masaki

By any chance, have you realised?
Are you just pretending you haven't?
To you, I'm just a best friend. That's ideal...
...not!
I make moves constantly
But however often I try, it's useless
But I never learn, so I choose an Italian place I think you'll like... and invite you out yet again

"Even though you know nice places like this, you don't have a girl to invite out?"

JANAKUTE~!Collapse )

DOKO NI DEMO ARU UTA // a song you'd find anywhere

Nino's songs are always simultaneously most fun and most frustrating to translate. He has such a beautiful simplicity in his Japanese lyrics that is so difficult to make sound right in English. I'm sure it's been translated a lot already, but I wanted to write up my version before I see anyone else's~

I think the romaji will have been posted at arashi_on , but if anyone is having problems finding it, I'll add it in this post too. Let me know! I typed out the Japanese lyrics from the lyric booklet, so they're the official ones. Nino uses quite odd punctuation in these - some parts took on slightly different meanings once I'd read the official lyrics to what I expected when hearing the song...

Either way, it's a lovely song! Enjoy~

Doko ni demo aru uta
A song you'd find anywhere

What’s right, and what’s wrong?
When you go and say things like "it’s okay,”

Those words just eat away at you. And that’s the scariest thing of all.

Scream out with all your might. To prove “I’m here!”
We’re not that weak, but we're not strong either
So crying is just fine; it’s nothing to be ashamed of
Because it’s something only people with a future can do;  because it’s a signal to tomorrow.

Crying, hoping, falling down, crying again...Collapse )

It was reported on June 28th that the first wildlife documentary film in Japanese cinema history is in production, and it will star Arashi’s Aiba Masaki (28) as main navigator.

The movie, “The story of Japan’s island animals” (director: Izuta Eizou) is due for release in early spring of next year. With 'beautiful nature throughout the seasons' as its theme, it’s a moving piece that shows the 'family love' between animals.

Nino: Male-female reversal Q&A!

Jun. 27th, 2011 | 04:54 am
posted by: lady__ishtar in tomadoinagara

Exams are over! And all the things I've been busy with have finally reached a calm, so I could finally sit down and finish writing up this translation that I've been meaning to post for about a year! ^^; Better late than never!

Perfect timing actually, since it's Nino's birthday month! I hope everyone had a lovely Neener-birthday. I went to karaoke with friends and ate a lot of yellow birthday cake!

Enough talk, on with the interview! The topic is... interesting, to say the least XD

(From "The Television" magazine; 27/08/2010)

GENDER-REVERSAL QUESTIONS!

The theme of “Ooku” is male-female role reversal. So from the angle of “what if you were a girl?”, we asked a bewildered yet increasingly drawn-in Nino some never-heard-before questions.

Q1: In terms of fashion, would you like to become gyaru or mori gaaru? (gal/”forest girl”)

Gyaru. I have zero knowledge about mori gaaru.  I’ve no idea what I’d have to wear to become one, so I’ll go for regular gyaru (laugh).

Q2: What song would you like to sing at karaoke with a girl’s voice?

Aiko-san. There’s no particular song, but somehow her songs seem like “girl’s songs”.

Q3: How would you try to attract guys?

"I guess I'll emphasise my chest!"Collapse )

ONLY STAR 24/01/11 - Aiba Bartender interview

Apr. 6th, 2011 | 01:10 am
posted by: lady__ishtar in tomadoinagara

Today I'm filling v_rosesandwine 's request of "something about Aiba!"

In this interview Aiba gives some behind-the-scenes stories about the first day of filming, talks about his birthday celebrations with his co-stars and bandmates and informs us that only one member of Arashi has got him a present ("so far")!

Aiba Masaki's drama BARTENDER - opening day in-depth report!

Today the drama filming got off to a safe start. It seems like you also had your birthday celebrated on set, is that right?
We started (filming) on the 25th, and right before it started, the studio lights went... I think I was here with everyone else, right, and the lights all went out. Cake and flowers... it was kinda like, even though everything was just beginning, it felt like the end (laugh). It was really similar to the "good job everyone!" feeling at the end of filming. But I was happy - really happy! It was like, even though my birthday had already passed, they still did it for me. It made me realise that we're gonna have a really good time together from now on.

Your co-stars also celebrated with you, didn't they?
That's right. Today it was just four of us - me, Omi (Toshinori)-san, Kanjiya (Shihori)-san and Nishi (Keiko)-san on set though. Toshinori-san has a really good personality. She also co-starred with Ninomiya in "Ryuusei no Kizuna," you know. So we talk about Nino and stuff. Today I'm... well, I'm looking like this (wearing a jacket/coat), but when I get behind the bar I look pretty snappy, so please come along again at one of those times (laugh). Certainly.

As requested by rawambition !

Segment of the 2005 Iza, Now MC, where Aiba talks about a certain dream he had....... and they decide to have Ohmiya act it out.

WARNING: The video/MC is obviously just the boys joking around and there's nothing explicit at all, but I understand this kind of this might be a trigger for some people, so please avoid reading/watching if you're not comfortable with discussion of groping on trains!

Translation this way!Collapse )

The site that I took the audio transcript from also has the rest of the 2004 Iza, Now MC, so I think I will translate all of it eventually. Watch this space!

As requested by azraqey
Translation of two songs by CHEMISTRY.
Hope you enjoy!

CHEMISTRY – Why

If this life was to come to an end,
I could never hear your voice again.
If I were to be reborn, I can’t deny the chance
We may meet again
But if only you would stay by my side right now …

Oh why why why
Oh why why why
Oh why why why
Oh why why why

My wishes for endless warm smiles
However many times I pray, they all slip away from my grasp
If only the two of us had met just a little sooner
Now the one holding your hand would be me and not him…

Oh why why whyCollapse )
